Moccasin Flats: Redemption revisits the series
main character Red (Ron Harris), an ex-junkie
who, after doing time for a crime he says he didn't
commit, returns to the pressure cooker that is
The Flats, a community hotly debated as being
Canada's Worst Neighbourhood, only to find himself
in the midst of gang activity brewing on the verge
of an all-out war. Red must try and reconcile
with his horrific past with the help of a homeless
child, his ex-girlfriend, a halfway house counselor
and a quiet elder while struggling to remain sober
and on the right path in life.

Candace Fox (Candy Foster), Ron Harris (Red),
Danna Henderson (Danna), Tiio Horn (Angel) and
Stuart Pierre (Carson). The movie is directed
by Gemini award-winner Rob King (Incredible Story
Studio, Something More) and was written by Laura
Milliken and Rob King.

Things are changing quickly in Moccasin Flats.
Matthew is growing increasingly frustrated with
Red, who hasn´t written a decent song in
months and seems to be more interested in doting
on Candy than making music: Red is coming to terms
with the fact that he and Matthew don´t
see eye to eye creatively and decides to take
a break from music altogether and focus on his
relationship: and Candy, now running Sweetgrass
Safety Services at the North Central Community
Centre, is overwhelmed at work trying desperately
to find out who is pimping a new group of very
young girls in the flats.
Candy decides to take matters into her own hands
when she comes to terms with the fact that everyone
around her is caught in their own twisted web
of sex, lies and betrayal to notice that the world
around them has come apart at the seams. Unfortunately
for Candy, this includes Corporal Amanda Strongeagle,
her only ally on the police force, who is too
wrapped up in her complicated love life to care.
Candy launches her own investigation and risks
her life trying to find the pimp and put him behind
bars. Things start looking up when she befriends
the young prostitutes, and slowly gets closer
to uncovering the truth, until tragedy strikes.
Although the tragedy serves as a wake up call
to the community, Candy realizes thtat the only
way to effect real change is to take a stand,
on her own, and not depend on the police, her
friends or her community. And that is exactly
what she does. By returning to her culture, to
prayer, to her ancestors, Candy finds the strength
to start a revolution of the mind, body and spirit.

In the heart of the urban reservation known as
Moccasin Flats, ex-pimp and drug dealer, Jonathon
Bearclaw has turned a new leaf. He has reunited
with his girlfriend Tara and his son Ethan. With
a renewed sense of purpose, Jonathon has opened
a home business and has made his family and his
community top priority. His weekly visits with
Corporal Strongeagle are proving to be a successful
part of his rehabilitation, and he is two months
away from being cleared of charges held against
him by his ex-employee and reformed prostitute
Candy Foster. Life has taken a turn for the better
and everyone has opened their arms to the new
and improved Jonathon, with the exception of Jonathon’s
long time arch-nemesis, Mathew Merasty.
Mathew is an upstanding community member who teaches
drum classes to youth, runs a home-based recording
studio and has always had problems with thugs
like Jonathon. Mathew is always acutely aware
of where Jonathon is and what he is doing, convinced
he is living a lie, waiting to catch him in the
act. To Mathew’s dismay, the community has
embraced Jonathon, his family and his commitment
to a new life.
But Jonathon begins to unravel when business responsibilities
start piling up, unpaid bills, GST remittances
and unhappy suppliers leave him in debt and practically
unemployed. Can Jonathon take the pressures of
the legitimate life? Will he be able to stave
off the craving of easy money from the streets,
and continue to be a legitimate businessman? Could
Mathew’s suspicions that a leopard never
changes its spots be accurate? What lengths would
Jonathon go to for his family and his business?
What lengths would Mathew go to for his business?
Could it be that they have more in common than
either of them ever dreamed could be possible?

A young man uses his culture to put evil to rest
in a community torn apart by abuse.
In a destitute inner city community, struggling
to overcome poverty, social injustice, racism
and violence, Dillon Redsky has to survive one
last summer before he gets out of the ghetto and
goes to university to pursue his dreams of becoming
a basketball star.
Unfortunately for Dillon, some people don’t
want to see him succeed. Dillon’s childhood
friend, Jonathan, the local gang banger and pimp
makes Dillon’s life a living hell when he
falls for one of Jonathan’s girls and helps
her get out of the sex trade.
As Dillon struggles against adversity, and faces
the brutal realities of living in the hood, his
dreams of basketball begin to slip away. With
support from his family, Dillon realizes that
his culture is the one thing that will save him.
Now, Dillon must learn what it means to be a real
Indian and walk in the path of his ancestors,
and make them proud.
